Transition Town Berlin

A group of people in Berlin have started in late summer 2008 in their district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, and in the neighborhoods around the park in Kreuzberg SO36 Gorlitz's a commitment to a sustainable and a resilient way of life as well as a certain neighborhood culture.

Resilience means the resistance of a local society to external disturbances, such as climate change and a possible supply shortfall caused by the oil shortage. They meet weekly, so that the neighbors learn from the neighborhood knowledge, host events and start up groups for small and large projects and try to connect to existing initiatives. Local entrepreneurs and local politics are also involved. Hence, an alternative urban development plan takes action in the sense of a "bottom up" principle. The Website shows a list of successful projects as well as news. It is also a forum where people can exchange ideas.
