The Euro-Crisis – Calm before another storm?

The Euro crisis meant a period of rough time for Europe with especially tensed relations between Greece and Germany. Now, after many meetings of EU leaders and the second bail out of Greece, the tides seem to have smoothened. Still,  the discussions on the ways out of the crisis are far from over, with elections in France and Greece expected to have a huge influence on this process. The lunch-debate hosted by the Heinrich Boell Foundation aims at getting to know different perspectives on this issues at hand.

Date: 11th April 2012, 12:30 - 14:30
Venue: Sofitel Brussels Europe, Place Jourdan 1, Brussels
Language: English

The speakers will be two bloggers of the Heinrich Boell Foundations blog on the Euro-crisis: Dr. Nikos Chrysoloras, a journalist from Greece and Dr. Ferdi De Ville, assistant professor in the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghent, as well as Dr. Cinzia Alcidi, LUISS research fellow, Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS). Claude Weinber, the director of the Heinrich-Boell-Stiftung European Union and secretary general of the Green European Foundation, will moderate the debate.

The debate will be followed by a workshop held by Dr. Nikos Chrysoloras and Dr. Ferdi De Ville on how to stimulate the reforms of state and economy while preventing social up-rising and an anti-European backlash.

Registration is necessary for both events. You can register here for the debate and here for the workshop.
