Energiespargemeinden Oberösterreich - Energy saving municipalities in Upper Austria

The initiated energy transition by the member of the provincial government of Upper Austria, the Green Rudi Anschober, can be considered as a widely supported citizen’s movement. Hence, it is an energy revolution from the bottom.

The goal is energy independence, climate protection and energy cost savings for municipalities. The energy revolution is the stated goal: the phasing out of fossil fuels brings independence, saves money on energy imports, reduces operating costs and CO2 emissions and creates jobs. A key measure of the energy transformation is the creation of local energy concepts. These concepts are an important planning and decision-making basis for the local level.

The modules of an energy concept may include: Assessment of energy flow in the municipality, the possible energy savings and eco-energy potential, the formulation of community goals for energy efficiency and renewable energy, the establishment of a municipal energy efficiency and renewable energy strategy, the planning of the implementation measures and the control and display the results of the implementation measures.
