REN21's Renewables Global Status Report 2012 launched

On 11 June, the 2012 edition of REN21's Renewables Global Status Report was launched. First released in 2005, the report's findings highlight the growth of renewable energy markets, support policies and investment over the past years.

REN21 stands for Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st century, and is a policy network promoting a rapid global transition to renewable energy. Its 2012 report shows how rapidly growing the share of renewables in energy markets, industrial policy and investments are these days, moving renewable beyond "niche" status.

The report is based on recently collected data, provided by a network of more than 400 contributors and researchers from around the world. The report covers recent developments, current status, and key trends. By design, it does not provide analysis or forecast the future.
